Apple PEEL 520: Convert your Itouch into an Iphone Now available for PRE-ORDER!

When I posted news about this before, a lot of people were calling me to ask when this will be available.

Well, here is your answer!!

It is now available for pre-order with Worldwide shipping through the manufacturers website!

Now what does this device do again? It concerts your Apple Ipod Touch into a phone!

Here is something I grabbed from their FAQ page:
"Requirements?
The Apple Peel 520 requires a Jailbroken iPod Touch 1st, 2nd or 3rd to make the SMS and Call app work. Any firmware above 3.0 is supported. The iPod Touch 4th generation is not yet supported since there is no Jailbreak for iOS 4.1 available at the moment. It will be very likely that the iPod Touch 4th generation will be supported as soon as iOS 4.1 gets Jailbroken.

Oh, off course you will also need a working SIM card"

The Good news is, they will have it also for the Itouch 4thgen once the JB is out!

Frankly, I think apply should be thankful, this will boost the price of their Ipod touch devices and I am sure this will not affect the current sales of the Iphone 4 because the peel will allow Apple to cater to a lower market segment.

If you want to order, Here is the link.

Here are a few more videos just to get you all excited!

So what are you waiting for?? Order now!!

Folders within Folders, enables Multilevel folder system for Iphone/itouch

I think this ap will be very useful, more useful than that of being able to place unlimited icons in a folder, I think that just gets too confusing.

A good example of putting this to good use would be to have A games folder, and under that you will have different categories like Action Games, Arcade Games, Puzzle Games etc..

Yes, some people are just that OC and they do have that many apps.

I am one of these people, so I am considering on getting this soon. In the meantime I have put my purchases on hold until I solve my Plants Vs Zombies issue (my original PVZ aint working right now)

For more info about this new cool ap, check this video out:

Seidio Iphone 4 Case Full Review

Yesterday, after a long wait, my Seidio Innocase 2 and  Seidio Spring Clip Holster Finally arrived.

Unboxing Video To Follow Since my Office PC is having issues, when I render the 720P video using Windows Movie Maker, it freezes my whole system. Sorry!

UPDATE: Here is the Link to the unboxing VIDEO:
http://www.mytechisland.com/2010/09/seidio-iphone-4-innocase-ii-belt-clip.html

And here are some actual Photos of the unit attached to my Iphone 4 and my review and comments on the bottom of each photo. All photos are taken with a Canon IXUS 300 HS from Canon Philippines. Awesome Shots!

The Siedio innocase 2 has is made plastic but coated with a special type of material giving you  a special non-slip mat finish, that is what I love about this case.  I don't like silicon cases, although they are non slip, they tend to easily wear out, stretched edges and they also capture a lot of dust/dirt/lint fro your pants. Seidio has the perfect texture for me, giving you a solid hard case feel that is smooth to the touch.
They made a big cut out on this side of the case to allow you to easily access the volume buttons and silent switch.
Frankly, I think it would have been alright to leave the rear design with just a flat surface and the Seidio letters at the buttom. I guess Seidio just wanted to distinguish itself with its new design.  Do take not that there is no APPLE LOGO window, this may be a plus for others and a minus for some.  As for me, I don't really mind.
It has clear large cut outs for the headphone Jack which is important to fit any type of headphone connector AND has the second mic open. My Prev Capdase case and the hole just right that I couldn't fit in some headphone jacks.
The Clip is the most important part of the Holster, this locks the Iphone 4 in place, you have to push the clip with a finger to release the iphone 4. The designed is unique and very secure that it prevents unwanted accidental release of the phone. I have tried several other CASE+Holster Combo's in the past for my iphone 3GS. All of them either broke or caused the iphone to slip out accidentally a few times. Seidio so far has never failed me.

Side View with the Iphone 4 Attached

From the last two pics you will see that it has a rotating belt clip that allows you to have the holster on Landscape or portrait mode when clipped to your belt.
A good think to take not of is the belt clip, it is designed to lock your belt in place and not just hang on your belt with  the possibility of slipping off with a slight nudge.
The Holster is designed to have the Iphone 4 facing inwards. So you happend to lean an on lets say a corner of the table, your phone's screen will be safe from harm.

The bottom of the Innocase II case can be removed so you can conveniently plug the iphone with several docking stations.

The only disadvantage of the case, which was also present on my prev Seidio case for the Iphone 3GS is that it causes your screen protector to Bubble.  Since my iphone already had a screen protector on, one that I love for its glorious mat finish, I decided not to use the Seidio screen protector that I bought separately.  I just slipped the case on. Since the case was designed with overlapping edges on top ( a C-Section), it basically hugs the phone and hols it from the top, this also squeezes the screen protector from both sides causing the protector to bubble.I have this small one that I am still trying to squeeze out but it seems persistent and staying there.  I think Seidio should make screen protectors that were made not to FIT the entire screen and should be placed with the case on to avoid issues like this.

Well that's about it.

All in all I love this case and it's a keeper!

Asus EAH5670: “The” Graphics Card for the Masses

Most of the time, it’s the top-tiered cards that get all the attention. From press releases and hardware reviews, these cards get the spotlight not because a lot of people will be buying them but it gives the masses the impression that the rest of the respective manufacturer’s lineup will be superior to the other manufacturer. Unfortunately, this doesn’t always translate to practicality. Case in point would be Nvidia’s Fermi architecture – powerful in all performance aspects but if other factors are considered such power consumption and thermal performance, it fails miserably. AMD has been very successful with their current and previous releases, it all started with the shift in strategy which is price to performance where most (if not everyone – including yours truly) belongs.

Today, we will look into one of those releases where we, the majority of the market are in focus; Asus’ ATI Radeon HD EAH5670. This is positioned as a direct competition to Nvidia aging G92 architecture, where the likes of 8800GT, 9800GT and GTS250 come into play. We will get to see how Asus went about with its “persistent perfection” in implementing this architecture for the masses.

Packaging and Accessories

Again, we have Asus’ traditional knight theme for their EAH lineup – something that I’ve never really understood what it meant. The front of the box includes basic information on the technology invested on this card – dust proof fan, memory capacity and other what-not.

The other side has almost everything you need to know about the product that lies within, in 11 languages. Don’t bother reading; it doesn’t really tell you that much.

The accessories included in this card are nada, zip and zilch. You don’t get to have a fancy DVI to HDMI adapter or a 4-pin molex to 6-pin PCIE power adapter. Fact is, the card only comes with the quick setup guide, a soft copy of the manual and a drivers and utilities disc which in fairness, is all you need, anyway.

A Closer Look on the Asus ATI Radeon HD EAH5670

At this point, you may have wondered what happened to the accessories but just have a good look at the card and you’ll find out why Asus the skimped on accessories. Well, here it is. The card has a basic heatsink and fan on top of the GPU core itself. The thing that made me wonder is that my 9800GT is massive when compared to this thing. I expected cooler temperature and lower power consumption thanks to AMD’s 40nm manufacturing process – this card doesn’t even need an auxiliary 6-pin PCIE power connector.

The underside of the card reveals 4 memory chips. If I am not mistaken, each chip is a GDDR5 256 MB which totals to 1 GB if Asus placed all video memory here to keep the GPU cool. As always, I am not allowed to pry open the heatsink so that’s that. A quick Google search on the part number etched into the memory itself reveals the memory’s specifications which sadly, did not include in-depth latency information.

As far as connectivity is concerned, this is where the accessories were added. The card has all the common connections embedded into the card itself which makes it plug and play. Unfortunately, you’ll need to have the appropriate same-type connectors if you’re thinking of running dual-display on this thing.

This is how to card sizes up to my 9800GT. The old card simply dwarfs the EAH5670 which is shorter by roughly 3 inches and because of the smaller manufacturing size and small footprint, the EAH5670 only draws power from the PCIE slot (75 watts). The size doesn’t mean though that the 9800GT is better; it consumes more power and therefore runs hotter.

Testing and Benchmarks

The Asus ATI Radeon HD EAH5670 will be pitted against my Galaxy 9800GT - a card that has been abused for 2 years already. We will look into how the card performs against these games available in the market today; Street Fighter IV, Dirt 2, and Resident Evil as well as the usual synthetic benchmarks from FutureMark; 3DMark’06 and 3DMark Vantage. We’ll also get to see how this card runs with Furmark Benchmark test among others.

A little GPU-Z snapshot wouldn’t hurt now, would it?

3D Benchmarks

Both the 5670 and 9800GT are giving nice numbers when subjected to this test. The 9800GT only leads by a small margin which is pretty much insignificant except for the Resident Evil test. The Dirt2 demo benchmark unfortunately is to be disregarded since I just remembered; the 9800GT does not have support for DirectX 11.

Synthetic Tests

It’s pretty much the same story with the synthetic tests as both the EAH5670 and 9800GT are neck to neck on both 3DMark06 and 3DMark Vantage. For some reason, the 9800GT leads by a lot in Furmark’s benchmark test.

Conclusion and Final Thoughts

A lot has changed in the graphics industry compared to the last 2 years. We have seen the shift from Nvidia to AMD’s momentum in market share. Long gone are the days of the G92. While it is still a viable option, it just can’t compete to AMD’s latest in terms of performance, temperature and price. The Asus EAH5670 is a proof of that engineering dominance, it delivers the almost (if not) the same performance as the 9800GT but runs cooler, consumes lesser power and supports the latest in 3D gaming technology via DirectX 11.0. I have no problems recommending this card to anyone who’s looking for performance without the need to sacrifice a lot.

Pro(s):
  • Support for DirectX 11.0
  • Smaller profile means it’ll fit on almost any case
  • Lower power consumption, lower temperature
  • Multiple display inputs (Display Port, VGA and HDMI)
  • Cheap Price

Con(s):
  • None

Apple talks, the world listens.

Nothing compares to the way Apple makes the world Listen. Just a few ours ago, Steve Jobs took the stage for another breath taking key note presentation.

So far here is what I have heard!
- IOS 4.1 gets announced
- Ipod Nano gets IOS in it
- IPod Shuffle gets dedicated buttons
- IPad will get and OS update within the year
- IPod Classic lives on!
- Itouch = IPhone 4G without the phone function, Yes, retina display, camera, HD recording, and most importantly, FACETIME!!!
- New airplay function to support printing and playing audio wirelessly
- New apple TV
- New speakers to support airplay
- Apple demonstrates IOS 4.2
- ITunes 10 will get released within the day I think

So far, that is what I have read. I assure you, I will be buying an iPod touch for my wife very soon to replace her 2nd gen. I wish they announced a little
Hint about new Ipad's for next
Year but they didn't, but it's alright, these new iPad touches will take the world by storm and by Christmas, everyone will want one.
