Ipod Nano Hacked

Just the other day I got my Ipod nano and my wife's also.  Engraved and ready to use, BUT, it remains sealed until now because the reason we actually got it was to use it with this (from www.lunatik.com)

We Pre-ordered it from the owner's Kickstarter Project and can't wait to get it.  Personally I will use this nano as a watch, mainly as a watch but I wouldn't mind having some apps installed like a calculator or currency converter, alarm, stop watch, chronograph face theme or maybe even a multi-country clock or something.. there are just so many possibilities. Maybe even a small game of "Snake" like the one's you see on Nokia Phones.

Well here is some good news, look's like my wish has be heard and will be granted very very soon!

Some progress on hacking the new iPod nano has finally been made by developer James Whelton who has done a basic springboard hack, figured out how to bypass the cache comparison and uncovered some interesting information.

The springboard hack is just the removal of a app and creation of a blank space. Not that amazing, but whats important is the bypass of Nano’s cache comparison, which compares any modded SB file and reverts it if it doesn’t like it, this opens up the possibility of hacking and modding, while not adding bootloaders or any of that fun stuff.

Next is the discovery in some of the device’s plists of reference to support of Movies, TV Shows, Apps, Games, vCards, Calender events and so on, with a few other cool things like a passcode lock. With the bypass I figured out, I hope to enable these pretty soon. It seems like the OS is a rehashed version of the previous Nano’s OS.

Whelton is hoping to get a bootloader on the device to expand its functionality. You can follow or get involved in the new touch Nano hacking process at http://nanohack.me

The Official Asus Press Release on the NEW HD6900 Series Graphics Card

ASUS Launches New HD6900 Series Graphics Cards

Featuring the most powerful AMD graphics processing technology developed to date for PC gaming enthusiasts and power users

Manila, Philippines New ASUS HD6970 and HD6950 graphics cards field the latest graphics cores from AMD, dubbed “Cayman”. These are super-powered GPUs custom-made to enable DirectX® 11 and Windows® 7-optimized gaming in resolutions above 1920 x 1200 with all advanced features turned on in-game and with impressive frame rates. Offering an irresistible combination of design and performance to power users and PC gaming enthusiasts, ASUS improves on the reference design with factory overclocking out of the box for superior performance. The new cards further use exclusive ASUS overvolting interface Voltage Tweak for 50%* faster clock speeds. ASUS has also implemented more heat-efficient materials in construction, contributing to better cooling and therefore enhanced output tolerances.

Product highlights

  • The ASUS HD6970 “Cayman XT” gets its core set to 890MHz and video memory to a massive 5.5GHz at the factory, while the ASUS HD6950 “Cayman PRO” arrives factory-overclocked to 810MHz on the core and 5GHz on the video memory. Tested and verified stable, these overclocks give users all the benefits of faster performance such as extra frames per second and no slow-down even during intense action sequences in games

while never compromising product reliability and longevity.

  • ASUS exclusive and popular overvolting interface Voltage Tweak is incorporated in both the HD6970 and HD6950. Gamers and hardcore tuners can boost clocks by 50%* with proper cooling support. This is a phenomenal increase, and one that is sure to come in handy for competitive overclockers and those truly dedicated to pixel-perfect PC gaming.
  • Going beyond the reference design, ASUS has once again swapped the stock plastic shroud for an all-aluminum cover that’s far more heat efficient. This creates better cooling on both the HD6970 and HD6950, dissipating surface heat more evenly and rapidly than the reference design. Less heat immediately translates into greater stability, better performance, longer product lifespan and increased overclocking potential.
  • The ASUS HD6970 and HD6950 come with innovative features from AMD, including Eyefinity, HD3D and EyeSpeed technologies.

- AMD Eyefinity technology comes standard on both models, enabling the connection of up to six** displays to a single graphics card. This results in huge viewing real estate, offering an ideal platform for immersive gaming and expanded productivity.

- AMD HD3D technology creates new exciting possibilities with 3D visuals in PC games, movies, video content and even photos. The power of these new cards means the 3D effect renders in sharp detail and with no lag.

- AMD EyeSpeed accelerates video playback for a more enjoyable high definition experience. Content from Blu-ray to online videos runs unhampered in full resolution and detail.

Are you dreaming of a white Silverstone Christmas?

Man I just can't wait to get my hands on this beauty.  I have always wanted a white case myself, but the options were always to modify it.  Silverstone manufactured 400 pieces of this engineering masterpiece of a PC case.

Like the FT02 Special edition, this case is also Serialize ensuring you that there is really only a limited piece of art.

The Phliippine's was allocated only about 15 pieces.  If you want to reserve one you can call the distributor at this number and I was told the a few reservations have already been made.

Cebu: +6332 2535648.
Manila: +632 7169554.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!
